Easy Cheesy Baked Macaroni and Cheese.
Macaroni and cheese is always a childhood favorite.
Try this homemade version next time you make it.
- 3 c. grated cheese, use any kind you prefer. I use a combination of cheddar, monterey and pepper jack.
- 2 tbs. flour
- 4 tbs. butter
- 1 pkg. of elbow macaroni noodles
- 3 c. warm milk (heat milk in microwave for a minute or two)
- 1 bay leaf
- 1/2 tsp. paprika
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
Preheat oven to 400°. In a large pot cook noodles according to package. In a skillet or sauce pan melt butter, whisk in flour, add bay leaf and then add warm milk while whisking together, cook for 5 minutes until thickened. Add salt, pepper and paprika. Shut off stove and stir in 1.5-2 cups of the cheese. Once fully melted and combined, stir in macaroni noodles. Remove bay leaf. Spoon macaroni mixture into greased baking dishes. Top with remaining cheese and bake for 20 minutes.
